If you are a normal human being there comes a time when you feel like you just have reenergize your workouts. If you are not normal, like me, and working out is your favorite hobby, you still have to switch it up sometimes.
15 Things You Can Do Today To Reenergize Your Workouts
1. PUT SOMETHING ON THE CALENDAR
It could be a class at your favorite studio, a walk with your BBF or anything. Schedule it now. Like right now!
2. REACH OUT TO NEW FRIENDS
New people always have a reenergizing effect on me. I love to see what their workout plan looks like and what I can join them in.
3. RECONNECT WITH OLD WORKOUT PALS
Is there someone you met at a barre class 4 years ago that you casually keep in touch with? Did you train for a half marathon with a BFF 2 years ago and want to run with them again? Reach out and reconnect.
4. SIGN UP FOR A RACE
There are literally 1,000s of road races that pop up this time of year so the likelihood that there is one near you is high. Sign up for that race than refer back to #1.
5. FIND A MEETUP
6. USE THE MINDBODY APP TO SEE WHAT’S GOING ON IN YOUR NECK OF THE WOODS
Confession: Working out is my favorite hobby. I love taking any and all of the studio classes I can. I love going to runs with SL or Mugsy. I love to get my sweat on and the MindBody app makes it easy for me to find classes in my area.
This app also helps to fulfill another hobby of mine, organizing! Yes, I love organizing my life almost as much as I love working out. (I can’t believe I have friends) When I log into the app I can see all of the classes I have already signed up for and all of the classes I have already taken.
7. PUT TOGETHER A TRAINING PLAN
Map out a big, fat fitness goal! Do you want to run a 5k or a 1/2 marathon? Do you want to take on a triathlon? Do it! Google training plans then tweak them to fit your lifestyle.
Here are a couple that I have used in the past:
8. TAKE AN INVENTORY OF WHAT YOU LOVED IN THE PAST
There are so many different ways to workout. What have you loved doing in the past? Spin? Beach yoga? Runs through your childhood neighborhood? Think back to those things and go do them!
9. MAKE A WORKOUT/FITNESS BUCKET LIST
10. SET ASIDE TIME FOR YOUR WORKOUTS
Don’t just say that Tuesday afterwork is gym time. Actually put time on your Google calendar for in you day planner – Tuesday, 6:00 – 7:00 pm = Gym. It also helps to write down/type in what you are planning to do during your workout so there is no wasting time.
11. INVEST IN SOMETHING NEW
Are your workout sneaks busted up? Did you lose your iPod in 2010? Thinking about buying a FitBit. Just do it! I find that once I have sunk money into something, I am more motivated to
Now that you have signed up for a race and class at your favorite studio and you have a training plan and new leggings – its time to organize. I use my May Designs agenda (that I wrote about here) along with the MindBody App.
13. SPRUCE UP YOUR WARDROBE
There are very few times in life when I can justify buying new workout clothes (I have TONS) but when I’m in a slump is a great time. I love me some Lulu and Athleta but I find tons of more budget friendly find at Old Navy and TJs. Nothing will reenergize your workouts like a new outfit 😉
14. BE A SOCIAL MEDIA BUTTERFLY
There is no shame in posting your stuff on social media. Yes, you might get some haters but its more likely that your friends will cheer you on or want to join you in a great sweat sesh.
If you are socially shy, read this: Why I Won’t Apologize for Posting About My Run on Social Media
And if anyone gives you shit, de-friend them on social media and in real life. You don’t have time for haters.
15. AND MOST OBVIOUSLY, GO DO IT
Put on Lulu leggings.
Lace up Nikes.
Put in earbuds and press play on your iPhone.
Walk out your front door.
Pick up your pace and just go do it!
I hope this extremely long list helped you to reenergize your workouts!
