The only thing that went down on Friday night was dinner on the couch and three episodes of Shameless.
SL and I went out on Tuesday and Thursday nights last week so staying in on Friday was perfectly fine with us. I had a burger bowl for dinner, my favorite thing right now.
Despite not having anything to get up for on Saturday, I was still in bed by 11:00 pm. Get after it, Emily!
SL and I slept in on Saturday. We slept in for the first time in ages and it was amazing. We eventually got up and made breakfast and set out to do our respective chores. I was off to the grocery store then meal prepped while SL tackled the millions of leaves in the yard.
At 3:00 pm I had a massage which was much needed. My neck and shoulders have been unbearably tight lately and my masseuse worked her magic.
After running some errands up in NH, SL and I opted for a sushi date night in Portsmouth. We only live 30 minutes from Portsmouth and try to go up as often as we can. We went to Domo for dinner and it was delicious.
We shared 3 rolls – seared beef with tempura shrimp and asparagus, a tiger roll and a cucumber eel roll. They were all perfect and we both agreed that we would be back to Domo ASAP. We headed back home after dinner and SL watched TV while I read my new book, Stranger in the House, until bedtime.
I was up before my alarm thanks to the time change. I read more of my book before getting ready for my 5k. My pre-race breakfast was a Larabar, some coffee and hot water with lemon.
The race started on time and SL and I were off (to the races…haha I love a good pun!)
Mile 1 – 7:59 min/mile. I don’t know where this speed came from but I knew it wasn’t sustainable.
Mile 2 – 8:55 min/mile. Slowed it down here so that I wouldn’t keel over and die.
Mile 3 – 8:51 min/mile. This was my favorite part of the race. I’ve run this course a bunch of times and always love mile 3.
Last little bit – 8:03 min/mile. This was all downhill and my speed reflected that.
Total (according to my RunKeeper): 3.17 miles // 27:09 minutes // 8:33 average min/mile
My last run before this was on September 17th. Seven weeks ago. All in all, this was not my fasted 5k but I was happy with the results. After our run, it was breakfast (#2) time.
Obviously, I had to hydrate as well.
The rest of Sunday afternoon included more meal prep, laundry and relaxing before it was time to head back out again. SL and I joined a couple friends for a cabaret show in Newburyport and it was excellent.
I didn’t take any pictures because it just didn’t feel appropriate and the lighting was dim so they would have come out like shit anyways.
And that wraps up my weekend!
I like to share my weekly workouts and menus on Mondays because it makes me feel like I have my shit together. So here you go…
Weekly Workouts (last week)
Monday: Rest day
Tuesday: Circuit Training, LIFT & 30-minute cycle. This was not a planned triple workout day but that’s how it happened and I was beat by the end of the day.
Wednesday: Rest day – much needed!
Thursday: Rest day
Friday: 30-minute cycle
Saturday: 30-minute walk
Sunday: 5k run
This Week’s Menu
Our freezer is so full and so is our pantry so my goal is to use up stuff we have in-house this week. We got a Butcher Box (<– get $10 off your first box!) delivery mid-last week so our freezer is stock full of goodness.
Monday (tonight!): Eggplant, sausage, homemade sauce and chickpea pasta. Comfort food at its best!
Tuesday: Grilled steak tips w/ Brussels sprouts
Wednesday: Maybe family dinner, maybe grilled chicken
Thursday: Leftovers or something easy. SL plays volleyball so I am on my own.
Friday: Wing it!
Saturday: I can’t think that far ahead…
Sunday: See Saturday. Probably something in the crockpot.
