Hello hello! How was your weekend?
Because its Monday, and there is nothing super exciting to talk about, I’m going to chat about what I did over my birthday weekend. If you are expecting major celebration and excitement, I’m sorry to disappoint. My weekend was very low key which is exactly what I needed.
Happy birthday to me! I really wasn’t feeling a night out so SL and I got pizza and chilled on the couch. Yes, pizza is currently off limits but it was my birthday and I did as I pleased.
I can’t remember what we watched on TV but I am sure it was something on Netflix. Probably Shameless.
My parents hosted breakfast for SL and me along with my sister, her husband, and my niece. October is a big month for our family with two birthdays and two anniversaries so it was nice to celebrate everyone with a big breakfast.
My mom made enough food for about 40 people (there were 6 people) and after we ate it was present time.
My sister and her husband got me new robe which I am never taking off. (It’s this one)
And my parents gave my some good old cash – you can never go wrong with that! Thanks family!!
After breakfast, SL and I headed home to do our respective chores. He took care of the yard for hours and I went grocery shopping and did some meal prep. We are getting a Blue Apron this week (yay!) so it was an easy prep day. I made:
- Fed & Fit’s Turkey Teriyaki Meatballs (but not in the crockpot)
- Host the Toast’s Thai Coconut Curry Butternut Squash Soup (pictured below)
- Bone broth
My mom bought me an apple pie (my favorite) as a birthday “cake” which I dug into around lunch time. I wasn’t starving because of my big breakfast but the pie was calling my name.
Saturday night was lowkey. SL watched some sports games and I read half of the internet trying to stay awake.
Sunday started with a double at the studio and it felt awesome. The 45-minute cycle class was going along swimmingly then Whoomp! There it Is came on and I was PUMPED! That song has been on 97% of my playlists since high school.
After cycle was Core, Buns + Guns and it burned so good. I was a sweaty mess through both 45-minute classes. All I could think about during the plank finale (other than death) was breakfast.
I had a turkey burger, cut into strips, in two Siete Foods tortillas with arugula and sriracha and a mug full of the TCCBS soup that I made on Saturday. Not your typical breakfast but it hit the spot.
SL was at a volleyball tournament all day so I sat around in my new robe, did laundry, watched some Gilmore Girls and started writing this post.
Once SL got home, we decided to check out a new restaurant in town for drinks and apps.
The Brown Dog was so cute and even had couches by a fireplace to sit at. Next time, we will be sitting on the couches. I like to make myself at home wherever I am!
After our late afternoon treat, we headed home, I made dinner (pork chops and broccoli) and we watched the Patriots game. Yay for another win!!
And that wraps up my birthday weekend. Like I said, nothing crazy but lots of relaxing which is what I needed after a tough week back from vacation.
I like to share my weekly workouts and menus on Mondays because it makes me feel like I have my shit together. So here you go…
Weekly Workouts (last week)
Monday: Rest day
Tuesday: Circuit Training & 30-minute cycle
Wednesday: 45-minute cycle
Thursday: Core, Buns + Guns
Friday: 30-minute cycle
Saturday: Rest day
Sunday: 45-minute cycle & Core, Buns + Guns (Love me a double!)
This Week’s Menu
I’m getting a Blue Apron delivery this week and I’m excited about it. Our freezer is full and I have a BUtcher Box coming so I really didn’t need a Blue Apron but the menu for the week made me happy so I went for it.
Monday (tonight!): Leftover Pork chops (I made these) and roasted broccoli
Tuesday: Blue Apron
Wednesday: Blue Apron
Thursday: Leftovers or something easy. SL plays volleyball so I am on my own.
Friday: Blue Apron or Out
Saturday: Whichever option we didn’t do on Friday night
Sunday: Something in the crockpot or homemade sauce with pasta (regular for SL and chickpea for me)
