So its been a hot minute since I have checked in here. There is a good reason for that which I will get to at the end of the post. I am catching up and thinking out loud today and will be back tomorrow with some Friday Favorites.
1 | Summer is coming to an end 😒 and I’m not thrilled about it. I am, however, looking forward to having some sort of routine again. Between weddings, traveling to Maine and making the most of every weekend my routine has gone out the window.
There have been lots of dinners out, take out and random nights out for drinks which has been amazing but also expensive! Time to cut back, meal plan, meal prep and get my shit together.
2 | Speaking of going out to eat – SL and I hit up our local greasy spoon on Monday morning in honor of Labor Day and I noticed they had a half order of biscuits and gravy on the menu.
Half order = half the guilt
It was everything! I haven’t had biscuits and gravy for years and years and despite the fact that it looks like a sloppy mess, it was damn delicious.
3 | New hobby alert! SL and I made several batches of homemade pickles and pickled peppers on Monday (after breakfast).
Welcome to the Lawson Pickle Palace folks. I have no idea how they will come out but they were fun to make and used up a lot of vegetables from our garden that we could have never eaten on time.
4 | We have two weddings this weekend 😒 I wish I could say I was super excited to travel to one on Friday night then travel to one on Saturday but alas, I’m not. I know that once I’m there I will have a great time at both but I’m just not looking forward to spending half of my weekend in the car.
To be fair, we have already been to 4 weddings this summer so I am a little wedding-ed out.
5 | I GOT A NEW JOB!!!!
So yes, I wrote about why I left my former-former job for my former job but the most recent job was just not the right fit. To be honest, I was bored AF. I knew I would be going into it and I thought I could deal with it but I couldn’t.
I had to pull the trigger, listen to my intuition and make the right move for myself. My mantra lately has been my favorite quote and I knew I just had to go for what I really wanted rather than what was easiest for my to do (leave vs. stay).
So now I have completed my first two full days and I am learning a ton. There is a little overwhelm trying to sneak in but I’m squashing it and using it as an opportunity to learn even more. I am so excited!
Thank you to Amanda for letting me Think Out Loud today and catch up with all of you!
