Hello from the air! I am currently flying down to Washington DC for a very quick trip. How quick you ask? I am leaving on a 5:55 pm flight later today. In and out. I’m a little bummed that its so quick because I’ve never been to DC.
I wrote a “Currently” post back in March and though it would be fun to write another one now that we are a few months later into the year. This is a little bit like the Thinking Out Loud brain dump I did last week but with a more organized spin.
Currently: June 2016
My latest creation – Butternut Squash Bolognese Dairy Free Lasagna. OMG this recipe was a total mash up of a few recipes I have found and could have turned out to be the worst. But it was/is the best! My recipe made about 12 servings so SL and I have been having it for lunch everyday this week and will probably have it for dinner tonight!
Kind of everything. SL and I have a big summer full of weddings, our niece being born and hopefully a few weekend getaways to Maine. May was a quiet month and June is shaping up to be the same. It sort of feel like the calm before the storm that is summer.
Currently Listening To
Music with my new wireless headphones.
A weekend up at my camp on the lake. There is something about the smell of the lake that makes every fiber of my being happy.
I’ve been on a huge iced coffee kick lately. It is really out of character for me.
Currently Day Dreaming About
A non-traditional, non-9 to 5 job. I like my job just fine but after getting passed on a dream job, I have been seriously considering how the next phase of my life is going to look. I don’t think I am cut out to be a corporate ladder climber and I do not see myself sitting in a cube for the rest of my life. I just don’t exactly know what my future career looks like. I just know it is not what I am currently doing.
Currently Indulging In
Last weekend, SL and I stopped for ice cream and he mentioned that we already had more ice cream this spring/summer than we did all of last spring/summer. I actually think we have had more ice cream recently than we have had in our entire relationship.
Making a hair appointment. I need a cut and color badly but I don’t know what I want to do. I just have to call and make an appointment and make a decision. I am leaning towards cutting it short again and dying it blonder.
A girls night. Two of my besties recently had babies and one is pregnant so planning a gathering has been super hard. We have something tentatively set up for next week and I am really hoping it works out. I have been friends with these ladies since high school and before. It’s so important to me to keep them close.
Kendra Scott earrings. My love for this designer started when I wore a pair of her earrings for my wedding. They are so simple and elegant (just like me 😳) and I am dying to buy a second pair. Problem is, I don’t know which ones. I love all of them!
New ombre leggings from Gap Factory. I bought these leggings on sale in the purple candy color because I could not resist them. They fit like a glove and have a really fun ombre pattern.
Magazines. Beach season = magazine reading. Usually I am at the beach with a group and we all end up talking the whole time so its hard to dig into a book. Magazines are perfect for the beach because the articles are short and they are easy to pass around in the group once I finish reading them.
Cooking shows. Three to be exact – The Pioneer Woman, Dinner at Tiffani’s and Real Girls Kitchen. I DVR all of these and watch them whenever I can. These ladies are all not only great cooks but they are entertaining. I’ve made tons of Pioneer Woman recipes and am looking forward to making some of Tiffani and Haylie’s recipes.
