Dry January is gaining in popularity and because I am the basic bitch that I am, I’m jumping on board for the second year in a row.
Dry January is hard for me because I love wine. Like LOVE it. The wine consumption that happened between my birthday (Oct. 20th) and the end of the year was kind of ridiculous.
Funny, not so funny story. I gained a bit of weight my junior year in college and was so horrified with myself that I decided to go on a “diet.” I was a dummy back then and thought a diet meant restricting calories and nothing more.
Every day, I would write down everything I ate then look up the calorie content on the internet and record it all in an excel spreadsheet titled, “2 Fat 4 Life.”
I’d love to punch my 21-year-old self right in the nose.
To make things worse, I would restrict myself to under 1,000 calories a day in food so that I could have more drinks!!! (???) What in the hell was I thinking? I wasn’t thinking. I was a dummy.
After a few weeks of barely eating and still partying with my friends I got some form sickness that I hope to never get again. I was throwing up every hour on the hour for a full day, I couldn’t eat, had a fever and the chills and it was awful.
My mom drove down to Connecticut to bring me home for a few days because she was so worried. Was I so sick because I thought Captain Morgan’s for dinner was a good idea? Probably. Ugh, I was the worst.
Fast forward to 32 year old Emily on this very day – doing dry January, doing a DietBet and posting a killer cardio/strength workout. #adulting
So far, dry January and my DietBet are going great. It’s actually been much easier than I thought it would be.
Killer Cardio/Strength Workout
This Killer Cardio/Strength Workout was hard AF. Ir you are ready for a super sweaty challenging workout, give this one a try.
The workout took me 48 minutes to complete which included a few 30 second rests between sets (and between exercises…the burpees killed me).
10 days down, 21 to go! See you on February 1st wine!
