Good morning and happy Monday. How was everyone’s Easter weekend? SL and I had a blast and ate WAY too much food. We added a couple workouts for balance but the weekend mostly revolved around food.
Easter Weekend Recap
Friday
I left work on Friday very ready for the weekend! I called SL on my drive home and we settle on making homemade pizzas for dinner so I stopped at the grocery store for supplies and we had a stay-in date night making pizzas
SL pizza – Cheese, pepperoni (2 kinds), capicola, banana peppers, roasted garlic and a single kalamata olive.
Apparently I forgot to take pictures of my own master-pizzas (<– see what I did there!) but they were amazing. I split my dough in half to make two little pizzas after our pizza stone fail with SL’s huge pizza.
My pizzas – #1: No cheese :), pepperoni, green peppers, onions, kalamata olives | #2: No cheese :), pepperoni, green peppers, onions, kalamata olives, banana peppers and roasted garlic
We had a bit of a pizza stone fail but learned a lesson. Despite the snafu, our pizzas turned out amazing an we enjoyed them while taking in a couple episodes of House of Cards. We recently started watching this series and its become of bit of a nightly ritual to watch Frank and Claire conquer the world.
Saturday
I did something on Saturday morning that I haven’t done since….since I can’t even remember when. I slept in. Like no alarm, no plans slept in. It was glorious and much needed after a long week of super early wake-ups.
SL and I had planned to run outside Saturday morning before the festivities began but I was totally NOT feeling a run after sleeping in and tried numerous times to get out of it but SL forced my hand feet. We ended up covering exactly three miles and took a very unconventional route.
I wasn’t setting any records with my pace but could have set a record for worst attitude during the run. I’ll share my splits anyways as I like to look back and laugh at my self.
Mile 1 – 9:11 mins
Mile 2 – 9:29 mins
Mile 3 – 9:40 mins
Speeeeeeeed demon! After pulling my sad sack of a self together at the house we headed to my parents house and celebrated a day early thanks to my sister’s travel schedule. There were 12 of us and we feasted on BBQ chicken, steak tips, swordfish, brussels sprouts, salad, roasted potatoes and more.
After ALL.THE.FOOD. SL and I went home and cleaned up around the house a little in preparation for easter weekend round 2 at our house on Sunday. By the time dinner rolled around neither of us were too hungry and settled on re-heating leftover pizza for dinner.
We parked our butts on the couch and you guessed it, watched more House of Cards. We are making quick work of this series.
Sunday
Easter Sunday morning started with a SUPER sweaty workout called the Easter Sunday Throwdown! I went to the studio not knowing what to expect but I knew the instructor would work us out. The workout started with about 15 minutes of cardio boxing then moved to some core and arm work and ended with a high knees tabata.
It was super sweaty but awesome. I knew there would be lots more food in my future so I needed to burn maximum cals.
Around 11:30 our friends started to arrive for an Easter lunch and an adult easter egg hunt. We hid 30 nips in our backyard then we all had to find ones that we haven’t hidden ourselves. I was the biggest loser and only fond 3 nips. I think I would have done better if we hid bottles of wine. Maybe next year.
We feasted once again but this time on ham, more brussels sprouts and smashed potatoes (<– I followed Julie’s recipe) and deviled eggs.
After food we were all feeling food comas coming on so we went back outside and had a fire. It was chilly out but nice to get some fresh air.
Sunday night was super low key and of course included another episode of House of Cards. We are now more than half way through season 2. Go us!
I hope you had a great Easter weekend if you celebrate or just a great weekend if you don’t!
