Last Friday night I ran the Flatbread Fiery 5k and today I’m sharing my Flatbread Fiery 5k race recap. Not to gloat, but there was free pizza involved.
The stake were high for this race. The fastest male and fastest female races won free pizza for a YEAR! #dreamcometrue
Spoiler alert: I wasn’t the fastest female and SL wasn’t the fastest male. But we did get free pizza at the end of the race!
Flatbread Fiery 5k Race Recap
SL and I arrived 15 minutes prior to start time and we were able to park, get our race bibs and get to the starting line with ease.
Mile 1 – 8:22 min/mile
As the race started, I noticed there were a TON of kids running. Normally they don’t bother me but there were packs of them weaving in and out of runners and tripping over each other. The last thing I needed was to fall over a 7-year-old and injure the both of us. Luckily that didn’t happen and I was able to free myself from the kiddos about 1/2 mile in.
Mile 2 – 8:22 min/mile
Same exact pace as the first mile. This rarely happens to me. I felt good and grabbed a cup of water in one of the culs-de-sac. (Yes, the plural of cul-de-sac is CULS-de-sac NOT cul-de-sacs)
Mile 3 – 9:12 min/mile
HOLY HILL. The hill during this stretch of the race did not stop. I was very tempted to walk but I didn’t and kept pushing up the seemingly never ending hill.
Last little bit – 7:50 min/mile
Looks like I turned the jets a little for the last .18 miles.
Final results for the Flatbread Fiery 5k – 3.18 miles // 27:30 mins. // 8:38 avg. min/mile
Then is was pizza time! We made a beeline to the food in case the line got long which was smart because we got our pizza slices easily.
I was so excited to eat that I took a bite before taking a picture. Don’t judge.
Have a great Wednesday! Linking up with Wild Workout Wednesday!
