Hey there – it has been a hot minute.
October, which is usually my favorite month, was rough. There was a lot going on – some good, some not good at all but I made it out the other side. Just barely though.
If I went into the details of all the bad, no one would read this because it would be too depressing so let’s talk about the good stuff!
Friday Favorites #112
When I started working from home/for myself I had these grand thoughts of talking long walks with my coffee in the morning. As it turns out, there were many (many) days when I got in less than 2,000 steps. Not cool.
I was pumped when Tina started a step challenge because it was just the kick in the ass I needed. The challenge started last Sunday and so far, I’ve hit my 10,000 steps every day so far. Well, I haven’t hit my steps yet today but it’s only 9:something am.
Great British Baking Show
This show is exactly what I didn’t know I needed. I like to put it on while I’m working or cooking and despite it being a competition, it’s nothing like American competition cooking shows. It’s happy and it doesn’t spike my cortisol.
There are five seasons on Netflix and I’m (sadly) watching the last season. Ugh. But I did hear that there are more seasons that aren’t on Netflix. Maybe I can find them?
Kevin Kwan Books
If you live under a rock, Kevin Kwan is the author of Crazy Rich Asians. If you still live under a rock, he has also written two other books, China Rich Girlfriend (unpictured) and Rich People Problems. Each of the books follows the same (large) cast of characters.
I’m about 1/4 of the way through the last book and I’m hoping that Mr. Kwan has many more books up his sleeves for the future.
Thug Kitchen Asparagus Risotto
I’ve made this recipe twice now and I’m obsessed. Risotto always intimidated me because usually recipes call for consistent stirring and cheese – neither of which I’m down for.
The Thug Kitchen Asparagus Risotto recipe doesn’t call for either of these things. The recipe is vegan and because it’s from Thug Kitchen, it’s funny and not fussy. I didn’t take any pictures because it’s not pretty but it is delicious.
