Hey hey hey, happy Friday. I’m coming at you this morning after a sweaty bootcamp class and leftover pizza for breakfast. Balance.
This week sped by and now the weekend is tantalizingly close. We are expecting a big snow storm on Saturday night and Sunday and I’m not on board. Our garage is not quite finished and I really hoped the snow would hold off until it was. Ugh.
And now for my Friday Favorites. These are a few things I really enjoyed from this past week. Spoiler alert – they are mostly TV shows and food. I promise I wasn’t a sloth this week. I did more than eat and watch TV. I really did.
Friday Favorites #115
I needed something light and fun to watch and turned on Sex Education on Monday and by Thursday afternoon, I’d watched all 8 episodes.
This was the perfect show to get me away from all of the true crime shows, books and podcasts I’ve been consuming.
Trader Joe’s Sockeye Salmon
So this was an impulse purchase from TJ’s that I’ve been enjoying all week. SL will eat salmon but he’s not the biggest fan and I bought enough fish for about 4 meals so I’ve had a lot of leftover salmon to eat.
For this particular meal, I simply cooked the salmon in a pan with my current favorite Primal Palate seasoning- Meat & Potatoes (from Thrive Market) and served it with a veggie-loaded pasta salad.
Sweetbitter (the TV show)
I read Sweetbitter (the book) ages ago and I knew there was a TV show out but we didn’t have Starz until last week so I couldn’t watch it. Now I’ve watched the whole series. There were only six 30-minute episodes so I binged it all in one day.
I still think the book was better (because the book is always better) but I really liked the show and am looking forward to a second season.
Annie’s Organic Vegan Mac
Finally, a Mac & “Cheese” that I can get down with. When we were little, my mom used to make Kraft Mac & Cheese for my sister and I would always just get the plain noodles because I don’t like cheese. The plain noodles were fine but missing that hygge feeling.
I saw this at Whole Foods yesterday and whipped it up for dinner last night. It was deliciously simple and the perfect comfort food for a cold night.
That’s all I have for this week. I hope you have a great weekend and hopefully I can get my act together next week to write about more than my favorites.
