Happy Friday and yay for another weekend! SL is going to Montreal for a bachelor party this weekend and I am flying solo. We have either been away of hosting people for the past 3 weekends so my routine has been way off and I am looking forward to getting my shit together this weekend.
Before I get ahead of myself, let’s talk Friday Favorites shall we?! Here are a few things that have made me smile this week!
Despite our incredibly busy summer schedule, SL and I have made it a point to really enjoy ourselves this summer. So far we have hiked twice (including this epic hike), being up to Maine twice, enjoyed a boat day, spent many hours at the beach, been kayaking and have eaten lots of ice cream.
We have 6 weddings this summer, along with the accompanying showers and bachelor/bachelorette parties. I am also hosting my sister’s baby shower this summer. So yes we are busy, but we are doing a good job of doing summer right!
I’ve been on a smoothie kick because I was too busy enjoying summer to make a strata this week. Yesterday’s was especially delicious – 1/2 cup frozen blueberries, 1/2 frozen peaches, 1 scoop Perfect Fit coconut protein powder, 1 cup almond milk, 1/4 coconut water.
No pictures of this baby because it was the color of….something really gross but it tasted amazing!
I checked out a book from the library for the first time in probably 20 years. Yay me! I placed a hold on the book online and got an email that my book was ready yesterday afternoon. When I go there, the librarian was super nice and showed me the ropes (where to find any book on hold) and I was in and out in under 2 minutes.
I checked out Delicious! by Ruth Reichl and started to red it as soon as I got home from the library. And hour or so later I was 80 pages in and didn’t want to put it down. Alas, I had to because my stomach was fiercely growling. I have read one other book by Reichl and I loved it to the point that I didn’t want it to end. I have high hopes for the rest of Delicious! as well.
Now that I am an adult and have figured out how to use the library, I have already put two more books on hold. Looks like I am going to be reading a lot this summer!

While SL is away this weekend and I have a list of things I want to get done:
- Get pho
- Use my juicer
- Read more of Delicious!
- Watch a super girly movie or documentary that SL would hate
- Organize ideas for Ireland trip – it will be here before we know it!
- Cook something new
Wish me luck!
