Yikes, I haven’t done a Friday Favorites since August?! Where have I been?
I think that especially when you are dealing with tough life situations, it’s important to remember all that is good in life. Life/adulting hasn’t been easy lately and it’s been hard to keep upbeat about things and write non-depressing stuff here on AEH. But that I must because no one wants to read about my constant woes.
I’m going to change a few things up this week and talk about some of my favorites from my recent trip to Portugal. I plan on doing a few in-depth posts about the places we visited but for now, here are some of my favorite things.
Friday Favorites #92: Portugal Edition
Tile Buildings and Azulejos
While researching Portugal, I read a lot about the tiled building and azulejos but seeing them in person was amazing.
They were everywhere from random buildings to churches to train stations to palaces.
Now, I would like a tile room in my house. Hopefully, SL goes for my idea.
I had octopus for many, many meals while in Portugal and each time it was cooked to perfection.
There were two ways it was often served: Cold, as octopus salad, with a vinegary vegetable salad and hot served with potatoes and occasionally other cooked vegetables.
I had each version multiple times and now I am on a mission to find perfectly cooked octopus in my area.
The only day I didn’t eat octopus, I ate solely bifanas. Actually, I had a pastry and a banana for breakfast but the rest of the day was only bifanas. This Portuguese meat sandwich is simple. A bifana is simply thinly sliced, seasoned pork served on a Portuguese roll.
Yes, I ate four one day. Zero Fs given and I would do it again.
Being there with SL
There is nothing better than experiencing new things with the one you love. Amiright? A big part of my relationship with SL involves adventuring, whether that is finding new places to hike near home or going to see a new part of the world.
This was a decision we made early on in our relationship. We both prioritize experience over things and budget mindfully so we can afford to travel as often as we can.
We’ve gone through a lot of not so fun shit in 2017 but I can assure you that all of these smiles are real. When I am with my husband, all of the hard stuff falls away. He is cool as shit and I am one lucky girl.
I hope you enjoyed this random Friday Favorites and I hope you have an amazing weekend! I’m planning on heading out for a birthday dinner tonight (yeah, it’s my birthday!) with my love then having breakfast/brunch with my parents tomorrow and enjoying a relaxing weekend from there.
Linking up with Heather from Life in Leggings today. So happy she is back!
