I saw this quote on Insta and it’s really struck a chord with me.
I’m not one to shy away from going after everything I want. Over the past 10 years (since becoming an “adult”) I’ve HUSTLED. I worked two jobs and got my Master’s degree while working. I trained for triathlons and half marathons and various other road races.
In my professional life, I hustle as well. I continuously searched for the perfect job and racked up certificates and attended conferences and read marketing blogs. I research the best social media scheduling platforms and marketing automation tools.
When new challenges come my way, I (almost) always responded with challenge accepted.

I’ve had a lot of wins in my life which I have celebrated here on this blog as well as on social media. What I have also had is a lot of loses. A LOT! Those I don’t always talk about though.
Now I don’t want to dwell on the loses but they are worth mentioning because without them, I don’t think I could fully appreciate the wins. Some notable recent losses:
- Tried out to be a R.I.P.P.E.D. and sucked (needless to say I didn’t get the job)
- Interviewed for a dream job and got passed up for someone with “more P.R. experience”
- Got a personal worst time in a 5k that I thought I could PR in
Here is the thing about racking up losses – at least I tried and I learned very valuable lessons from each of these loses.
Here is the other thing, I am lightyears ahead of those who didn’t try at all.

I’ve traveled the world.
I’ve purchased property.
I earned a Master’s degree with zero debt.
I contribute to my 401k and I have a life insurance policy in place.
Basically, I’ve got my shit together. Probably more than (or at least on par with) other people my age. So we I do have to deal with a loss, I have to remind myself that I am pretty effing awesome and that the wins far outweigh the losses in the end.
So my friends, go after everything you want. Be ok with your losses and remember – you have more wins that most people.
