Hello and happy Monday! Or should I say hello and … Monday. The highlights of this weekend was having some relaxing time, getting a facial and spending time at Ravenswood Park in Gloucester.
Although I am not ready for the weekend to be over, it’s nice to recap it and remember the good times!
SL was already home when I got home from work and both of us were down for a low key night. I made ground turkey “burrito” bowls for dinner then we both read our respective books and hung out on the couch until bedtime.
We were up early due to SL having to drive up to New Hampshire for class. I opted to go to an early cycle class then get all of my grocery shopping done so I could do some meal prep.
I read more of my current book, Comfort Me with Apples (my third Ruth Reichl book) before leaving the house again to run some errands and get a facial. It was so nice to give my face some love.
When I arrived at the spa, my esthetician did a quick scan of my face and and we decided on the 60-minute Ultimate Hydration facial for the day’s treatment. After a quick cleanse and two peels, she brushed on a hyaluronic acid mask that smelled like green apples and let it sit for a while.
After she peeled it off, my face like brand new. I left with a couple products to try and am looking forward to doing so this week.
Once SL got home from class, we met up with a friend for dinner and drinks. Drink for me = club soda (still crushing Dry January) so I was the DD. It was a late night and I was looking forward to sleeping in on Sunday morning.
Sunday morning was for sleeping in so hard. Once we finally rolled out of bed and made breakfast it was time for a few chores before doing something fun.
SL and I are working on building a tradition of doing something active together on Sunday. This Sunday, we did a 4+ mile walk/hike at Ravenswood Park in Gloucester. The weather wasn’t all that great but the time in the great outdoors was.
SL decided to climb a big rock.
Success! We’ve been to Ravenswood Park before but it had been years and I was more than happy to explore despite the less than stellar weather.
We came home, did more chores and watched the Patriots game. Hey Goodell – the Patriots are going to the SUPERBOWL!!!!!
Weekly Workouts (last week)
I had a fairly normal week of workouts. Nothing too crazy.
Monday: 45-minute Cycle class & Core, Buns + Guns class – Back to back classes were brutal but I was glad I did it!
Tuesday: Yoga & 1.5 mile walk on the treadmill
Wednesday: A new basement workout
20 bicep curls / 20 weighted step-ups / 400m run
20 tricep kickbacks / 20 weighted lunges (each leg) / 400m run
20 chest press / 20 weighted squats / 400m run
Then 15s, then 10s.
Thursday: Core, Buns + Guns & random walking and kettlebells exercises while watching an online workshop
Friday: 30-minute Cycle (holy hell my legs were on fire!)
Saturday: 30-minute Cycle
Sunday: 4.39 mile walk in Ravenswood Park
On deck this week – I’d love to get an outdoor run in. Hopefully the weather cooperates.
This Week’s Menu
This week’s menu has some new, fun things and some tried and true favorites. I did a lot of meal prep on both Saturday and Sunday
- PaleOMG Breakfast Sausage (I didn’t have fennel so I didn’t add it)
- Angel Food mini muffins (Tone It Up)
- PaleOMG Carne Asada
- Marinated chicken and froze it (I made, this, this and one other)
- Butternut Squash Turkey Chili (Tone It Up) for Monday’s dinner (I have a massage after work so having it already ready is key!)
- Chopped a bunch of veggies for snacks for the week
With all of that said, here is my menu for the week!
Monday: Butternut Squash Turkey Chili + salad
Tuesday: Baked chicken with Maple Walnut Brussels sprouts
Wednesday: Carne Asada Burrito Bowls (so excited about these!)
Thursday: Baked salmon with kale, carrots and quinoa
Friday: Leftovers (Burrito bowls, Salmon, whatever…)
Saturday: Cajun Shrimp & Veggies with quinoa
Sunday: Crockpot meal or Mulligatawny soup
Down 5.2 lbs. I have less than a pound to go so hopefully I can stay on track this week and win the bet!
