This mixed berry smoothie bowl made me so nostalgic for the epic açaí bowls I had while visiting San Diego. Take me back!
Now that summer is actually on the horizon, I have been back on the smoothie train. A nice frosty smoothie bowl makes the perfect snack or meal for hot summer days and/or hot summer nights!
Smoothie bowls are super easy to put together and almost impossible to mess up. If they are too thick, the blender won’t be able to blend it so you will know to add a little more liquid. If you add too much liquid, it will become a regular smoothie or smuice (smoothie + juice) that you can drink with a straw.
Mixed Berry Smoothie Bowl
This easy recipe follows a 1-1-1 ratio. Makes 2 bowls. If you only want to make half (of 2/3rds) its really easy to do so.
- 1 cup frozen strawberries
- 1 cup frozen mixed berries (I used Wyman’s Frozen Mixed Berries)
- 1 cup coconut water
- Splash of balsamic vinegar (trust me, its delicious with the berries)
- Handful of mixed greens (spinach, kale, power greens, whatever you have)
- 1 scoop of protein powder (I just ordered coconut protein powder from Perfect Fit and I cannot wait to try it!)
Slivered almonds, coconut shavings, cacao nibs, chia seeds, any sliced fruit, honey and the list goes on.
So yeah, I added balsamic vinegar to this mixed berry smoothie bowl recipe. Berries are super sweet on their own and adding a splash of balsamic cuts the sweetness a tad. Balsamic vinegar is also said to have some great health benefits such as:
- Aids in weight loss
- Helps blood circulation
- Improves immunity
- Helps digestion
I made really quick work out of this bowl this past weekend. Yes, I suffered a mild case of brain freeze but I powered through. I’ve made two more smoothie bowls this week as snacks between lunch and dinner.
Side note: Tiki Port – Please build another one in my backyard.
