Between work and SL’s grad school schedule, it’s hard to schedule time away together. Luckily, one of our favorite resorts is just a two hour drive from our house. A couple weekends ago we took advantage of some time off and stayed at the Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa for 2 days.
Staying at Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa
The Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa is located in Whitefield, New Hampshire and has everything you could possibly want from exquisite food, to endless activities to plenty of relaxation options.
During our stay at the Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa, my husband and I did not skimp on food. We enjoyed breakfast, lunches and dinners and nothing disappointed.
I am going to go out on a limb here and say that this was the best chicken I have ever eaten. Bold statement, I know but OMG was it good.
Another stand out dish – Fried Brussels Sprouts. I love Brussels sprouts but I hadn’t tried them fried until this trip. I was literally shoveling them into my mouth.
Regular Brussels sprouts might be ruined for me now!
We also enjoyed breakfast one day during our stay and I opted for an omelette with breakfast sausage, onions, peppers and broccoli.
The food was the delicious and the view couldn’t be beat!
Cross-country skiing trails were beautifully groomed and well marked. Until this trip, neither my husband or I had XC skied on groomed trails so this was certainly a fun change of pace for us.
We chose a looped trail that took us about 3 miles. There were lots of hills and turned and we were wiped out by the end of our adventure.
Another activity we took part in while staying at the Mountain View Resort & Spa was ice skating. We brought our own skates (and XC skies) but they are available to rent at the resort.
We skated for about 45 minutes and mostly had the rink to ourselves. Probably because it was only 10 degrees!
I love a good skate but my legs didn’t love me all that much after XC skiing and skating in the same day.
One not active activity we partook in was BINGO!
I practically forced my husband to play with me and in the end, he enjoyed it almost as I did. Each player got to use 3 boards and there were multiple winners in some of the rounds.
Playing this way made the games much more enjoyable.
I also took advantage of the resort gym. This gym had EVERYTHING! I didn’t have much time so I only did a quick 20-minute run on the treadmill which watching Pioneer Woman on the treadmill TV.
During our time at the Mountain View Resort & Spa were very active. But we also took some time to relax. The resort has not only a pool but a hot tub and sauna as well. You better believe that we took advantage of all three.
Being there on weekdays (Thursday & Friday) was in our favor because the facilities weren’t busy.
Unfortunately, we didn’t make it to the spa. I was really hoping to sneak in a couples massage but we just didn’t have enough time. Next time we visit, it will be first thing on the list!
During our trip, we also downhill skied at Cannon Mountain.
It was absolutely freezing but the conditions were great and it wasn’t busy. If you live in the area, Cannon offers a 2 for $75 ticket deal on Tuesdays and Thursdays. What is better than a cheap ticket and a mostly empty mountain? Nothing. That’s what.
We’ve been to this resort 3 times now and will absolutely be back. Until next time!
