This blog is home to a couple day-in-the-life posts but none of those capture my ideal weekday. First, let me clarify – ideal day = Saturday. Ideal weekday = keep reading.
Being a proud disciple of the Being Boss podcast, I downloaded the Braid Creative’s Ideal Day worksheet (you can download it here) as soon as I heard about it on an episode.
My Ideal Weekday
7:15 am Get out of bed
On my ideal weekday, I don’t set an alarm. Most mornings, my husband and his alarm wake me up around 6:00 am but I usually don’t get out of bed.
8:00 am Workout
Exercising in the morning gives me the energy to plow through the rest of the day. I also love the feeling of having it done with 😅
9-11:00 am Work on creative and strategy work
I know myself and I know I am at my most creative in the morning. This is the time I would use to write and design. Ideally, I would also use this time to think ahead – like plan out my client’s 2017 marketing program (Note to self: Do this ASAP!)
11:30 am Pull my head out of the sand
Check emails, make phone calls, do basic admin stuff once my brain is half fried from being creative and/or strategic all morning.
12:30 pm STOP and eat lunch
I suck at stopping to eat lunch. My ideal weekday would include going out for lunch because it would force me to step away from my computer.

2:00 pm My slump time
The 2 o’clock hour is my worst hour. My creativity is gone for the day and I really just want to call it quits. Unfortunately, I always have lots more work to do after having a creative morning and then lunch.
Using this time for task oriented work works best for me. From 2 – 4 I use the time to schedule social media, write agenda and recaps, check my inbox (again), code emails, etc.
4:00 pm – Call it a day
The whole 9-5 game is not ideal for me. My brain shuts down around 4:00 (especially this time of year because its dark out already)
4-6:00 pm Do me!
Whether its getting dinner started, cleaning up or reading, my ideal weekday would have me time carved out.
Right now, this time rarely exists. I usually get home from work at 6:00 and my husband is already home. Both he and I are starving at this point and I have to get right to work making dinner.
6-10:00 pm Eat dinner, hang out with my husband, watch TV
SL and I eat dinner together pretty much every night. Either he waits for me or I wait for him. When then pick something to watch that we will both like and just hang out and chat for a while.
10:00 pm Hit the sheets
A night owl I am not! On nights when my husband isn’t around, I go to bed even earlier. I don’t always fall asleep right away but there is something about being tucked into bed that makes me so happy. My Ideal Weekday (Not to be confused with my ideal day - Saturday) Click To Tweet
Striving to life more of my idea weekdays is something I am going to do from now on. Just typing up this post made me envious of my ideal weekday!
