Hello hello and happy Marathon Monday! I’m coming at you this morning from the comfort of my couch while watching the Boston Marathon pre-show on TV. We are not having the best weather for the runners today but anyone who has the strength and discipline to train for and run a marathon won’t be deterred by terrible weather.
GO RUNNERS!!!
Today is Patriot’s Day and I have the day off from work which is amazing. All weekends should be 3-day weekends. So let’s chat about said weekend.
Friday
Right from work, I went to pick up my race packet for Saturday morning’s 5k. LOVE an early packet pickup option.
SL and I opted to go out to dinner which we rarely do on Friday nights. It was the date night I needed (and the pizza I needed).
Saturday
Race day! I’ve run the Chase the Gorilla Down Argilla 5k a bunch of times and was excited to get out for a run on Saturday morning. Our friends showed up at our house are 8:30 am and we were off to the starting line.
I’ll have a race recap up tomorrow.
We hosted our friends for brunch after and I ate my fair share of blueberry waffles. After a quick grocery shopping trip, I started reading The Wife Between Us and am loving it so far.
Then I fell asleep on the couch. Super productive Saturday afternoon.
We opted to stay in on Saturday night and I cooked a mash-up of Spiced Keema and Dragon Noodles. SL watched sports and I read more of The Wife Between Us.
Sunday
Sunday started with a Core, Buns + Guns class. I haven’t been to a CBG class in ages and it officially smoked me.
After class, SL and I got bagel sandwiches and coffee and chilled on the couch.
The weather was cold and snowy/raining (not cool for April) so once again, I picked up The Wife Between Us and spent most of the day reading.
For dinner, SL and I went out for an early-bird Mexican dinner. I got fajitas which I love because I can eat one or two tortillas then just finish the meat and veggies on their own.
After dinner, we watched the movie Patriot’s Day. The movie was very well done but it was really hard to watch. SL and I took a bathroom/popcorn making break about an hour in and I almost felt sick to my stomach. I remember where I was on that day – thinking about all of the people I knew in and around the bombing area.
I remember going into work the days when they were searching for the bomber (I worked in Boston at the time) and I remember when Boston was on shut down after the shootout. It was terrifying.
I also remember how the city came together after this tragedy and bounced back from fear like none other. Boston is amazing.
Because I feel like I have my shit together when I post about workouts and meal plans, here are my workouts and meal plans.
Weekly Workouts (last week)
I could almost skip over the section because last week was pretty grim.
