Since I am currently “training” for a half marathon (I use training loosely as I haven’t been running much) I thought it would be fun to answer this running survey I have seen pop up on the interwebs.
Would you rather run along a beach path or a mountain trail?
Mountain trail. I love the beach but it get too hot on beach runs. Trail running is awesome because its shady and you have to pay attention so you don’t fall on your face and it makes the run go by much faster.
If you could choose the flavor of Gatorade at your next race’s aid station, what would it be?
I would choose Cherry Limeade Nuun on the rocks. I have been guzzling this flavor of Nuun during my workouts and I feel like it gives me a little extra pep in my step!
If I gave you a $100 gift card to a running store, what would be the first thing you would purchase with it?
If I gave myself $100 to spend at a running store I would buy a second pair of my beloved Adidas Boost sneaks. And new crops. and a couple new tanks. I might have to give myself $200 😄
Do you prefer to follow a training plan or wake up and decide then how far and how fast you want to run?
Training plan. I plan my entire life because if I don’t, I sit on the couch and watch Bravo and don’t do shit.
That is where my obsession with May Designs notebooks comes into play. I handwrite my whole life down each Sunday then stick to the plan throughout the week.
Would you rather start your run with the uphill and end with the downhill or start with the downhill and end with the uphill?
What hedonist would choose to save the hill until the end? Woof. Do your self a favor and get that hill over with in the beginning.
When you can’t run, what kind of cross-training do you choose to do?
Indoor cycle class, strength/interval training classes, barre, pilates, basically any studio class. I’m a basic bitch even at 31.
What’s your preference – out and back, point to point or loop?
Loop. All day.
If you could recommend any running related item to a new runner, what would it be?
I love my Adidas Boost sneaks and this playlist.
Do you ever see any wild animals out on your runs?
Recently SL and I saw a deer on our way back from a run. Does that count?
SPOILER ALERT – about to embarrass myself on the internet: A really long time ago, Mugsy and I were either walking or running (I forget) and we saw a TURTLE and both screamed and ran away. Ugh…like the turtle was really gonna catch us and maul us. So embarrassing especially since I am totally NOT afraid of turtles.
Ever gotten lost while out on a run?
Yes, twice. Once in Florida while half marathon training and once in my own town 😒
If you could have one meal waiting for you each time home from a run for the next 30 days, what would it be?
Egg whites, chicken sausage and a grilled english muffin. And watermelon.
Capris or shorts…what do you run in most often?
50-50. Capris when it is below 60 degrees. Shorts when it is above.
At what mile (or how many minutes) into your run does your body feel warmed up and in the groove?
Mile 3. Hence why I have a complicated relationship with 5ks.
What do you do with your key when you run?
Put in right in the little key pocket that is magically part of all of my shorts and capris.
If you could relive any race, which would it be?
- Twin Lobster Half Marathon
- 2014 Great Adventure Challenge (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3)
- 2015 JCC Triathlon by the Sea
There you have it folks. A short and sweet running survey for you to compare me and my running quirks to you and yours. Happy hump day!
