Over the past few weeks, I’ve been in a bit of a slump. It’s starting to get dark earlier AND it’s dark when I wake up. All this darkness in no bueno!
The other day, SL offered to buy me a bagel and I bitched at him that it would be stale by the time he gave it to me. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME! He was being nice and I was being an ass.
After apologizing I explained that I had been in some weird slump and that I would get myself out of it.
How I’m Getting Out of my Slump
1 | Ordered a Blue Apron delivery
I go through phases where everything I cook just bores me. I am usually so excited to cook but lately in this slump, I have wanted no part of meal planning and cooking. So, I opened my Blue Apron app and scheduled a delivery for next week.
Now, not only do I have something to look forward to, I will have 3 new recipes in my cooking arsenal.
2 | Switched up my routine
Like I said, I am not rushing home after a long day of work and getting into the kitchen to make dinner with glee.
So I started switching things up. Now, I come home and read my book for a bit before I start dinner. I recently finished Sweetbitter by Stephanie Danler (New York Times review) and loved it. I write more about it in my Friday Favorites.
In changing up my routine, I also signed up for a couple workout classes at different times. These classes aren’t new to me but the time of day is. Change can be good, even if it means getting up at 5:30 am on Friday morning!
3 | Put pen (or pencil!) to paper
Is it just me or does checking things off a list make you feel like a boss? When I am in a slump, getting anything done seems overwhelming. This is when I start to write things down. Getting everything on paper my seem daunting at first but more often than not, I don’t have as much to do as I think.
Think of it this way – become your own project manager. Write it all out then break down the big stuff into manageable chunks. Then, schedule those chunks out over the time period you think you will need to get them done. How I'm getting out of my slump! Click To Tweet
