Good morning and happy Monday! How was your weekend? I can honestly say mine was the best weekend I have had in a long time. I totally broke routine and it ended up being exactly what I needed after a couple not-so-awesome weeks.
Once I wrapped up work for the day I headed straight to the nail salon to get a pedicure. It was much needed and the perfect way to start the weekend.
Once I got home I quickly got dressed and ready and SL and I were off to our first wedding of the season (we have 6 this year).
The wedding was blast and by the time we got home (close to midnight) I was exhausted and fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.
Saturday was a beach day. I skipped a bridal shower in favor of spending the day on the beach with SL and a bunch of our friends. I felt a little guilty for skipping the shower but there are only so many perfect summer weekends and I am old enough now that I can make the decision to put myself before others.
After the beach, a few friends came over for a cookout and once they left, SL and I watch House of Cards until my eyes could not stay open for any longer.
This was NOT My typical Sunday. I didn’t workout. I didn’t do any chores. And I didn’t prep anything for the week. What I did do was enjoy time with my husband and it was perfect.
I slept in on Sunday morning then lazed around until SL mentioned going out for brunch. This NEVER happens so I got dressed quickly and we went out the door by 11:00. Our first try was a bust (long wait and no parking) but our second choice end up being perfection.
We had heard of The Poynt from Phantom Gourmet so had high hopes for our brunch. We were not disappointed. I started with hot coffee that came in my very own french press.
If you are wondering, yes, I drank all of it.
Then SL and I both ordered Bloody Marys and they were the perfectly spicy and delicious.
For my meal, I opted for this calorie bomb.
Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs – duck fat griddled potatoes, chorizo sausage gravy
I ordered eggs whites if thats any consolation to my million calorie brunch. It was so so so good and I ate every last bit. SL got something equally as amazing and we both walked away from brunch feeling very full.
After a quick stop home, we were off again to visit a friend who is house sitting a pretty incredible house. Let’s just say I felt like a peasant the entire time I was there. But that didn’t stop me from swimming around in the pool for a solid 90 minutes.
Around 5:00 we headed up to Gloucester for the 89th Annual St. Peter’s Fiesta. When I was a bit younger, this was like a big 3-day block party were we could sneakily walk around and drink. Now, I go for the events and leave as quickly as possible.
SL and I went specifically to watch the Greasy Pole. A forty-five foot telephone pole is attached to a platform and extends out over the water and is covered in some sort of greasy, slippery substance. There is a flag at the end of the pole and the first person to knock the flag off wins.
It was really fun to watch and I was glad we did something out of the ordinary. Unfortunately, all of my pictures were taken with SnapChat and I can’t download them for some reason…whomp whomp!
One of our favorite pizza places is in Gloucester and we haven’t had it in years so we ordered a couple pies to take home and made sure they had a nice comfy ride in the car.
We made it home just in time to eat and settle in for the season finale of Game of Thrones. As always, it did not disappoint and I thought is set up everything nicely for the next season. Now we just all have to wait for a year.
>> Linking up with Katie this week #MIMM 🙂
I honestly had the best weekend and actually felt like it didn’t fly by and I am actually ready to conquer this week!
Yes, I skipped any form of workout this weekend but I started the day with a great work out at Studio 5 this morning to get myself back in the swing of things.
SL turns 32 on Wednesday and we are celebrating with a dinner out with his mom tonight and I am really looking forward to it.
