Woof Monday. I am not ready for the weekend to be over! The only thing getting me through today is knowing that I have a massage after work.
Let’s rewind to the weekend because that is more fun to talk about. This weekend was all about hiking, eating and relaxing.
Friday
SL both took Friday off from work and despite it being a short week anyway, we needed the extra day off. We left for Maine around 8:00 am after a quick breakfast stop. We drove just over two hours to our first weekend destination – a hike!
Despite the overcast, super humid weather, SL and I decided to complete the hike we had planned to do. Blueberry Mountain is a short hike with a challenging climb then and easy descend.
The climb only took us about 45 minutes and as we neared the top, we were completely surrounded by blueberry bushes were were just started to create their blueberry bounties.
Once we reached the top it was foggy so the view wasn’t as epic as it could be but it was still nice to be out in the woods and out of the office.
After showers and briefly relaxing, we were starving and headed right the Naples Lobster Pound. As soon as we arrived I realized I had left my wallet in my hiking bag and the waitress wouldn’t serve me 🙁
Yes, this almost 32-year-old women ordered a pink lemonade with her dinner.
SL and I both ordered lobsters which came with a potato (we both ordered french fries) and and other side (I got corn on the cob and SL went with coleslaw).
Dinner was so good but we left STUFFED and ready for a relaxing night in. On the way back to camp, we stopped to walk the causeway on the lake and ended up stopping for ice cream. I guess my dinner stomach was full but me dessert stomach still had room.
We were both in our PJs by 8:00 pm and spent the night watching TV before falling asleep.
Saturday
Is there anything better than sleeping in on a rainy Saturday morning? I think not and that is exactly what we did. With no plans on the docket, we lounged around in bed for a while before finally packing up and heading out.
We knew we wanted to get breakfast on the way home and went back and forth on where to go before deciding on a new-to-both-of-us spot, Cafe Sebago. I am so happy we stumbled upon this place.
Breakfast started with a coffee and Bloody Mary. Breakfast of champions? Sure, why not.
I ended up ordering an egg white omelette with breakfast sausage, onion and green peppers with a side of homefries. It was huge and delicious and I finished every last bite.
We made a stop at Cabellas to pick up a few things – specifically hiking shoes for SL, a kayaking life jacket for SL and a camelbak for me. It was a very successful trip!
The rest of Saturday included visiting our friends’ new baby (all the babies!), eating leftover Chinese food and watching Trainwreck. I love Amy Schumer so much and yes I realize how much of a basic bitch that makes me.
Sunday
I was waitlisted for cycle and Core, Buns + Guns and didn’t get into either. It was a huge bummer BUT it meant another morning of sleeping in. I’ll take it.
The rest of Sunday included the usually – making breakfast, meal planning, grocery shopping, meal prepping, laundry, etc.
For dinner, I made this Honey-Lime Ramen recipe and it came out awesome! The recipe made enough for a dinner side dish as well as enough for lunches throughout the week.
I think this recipe will become a staple in the Lawson house.
After dinner and an episode of Orange is the New Black, the Lawson’s called it a night and went to bed. Weekend over.
Other the the hike, I got in zero workouts this weekend so I was up bright and early for a 6:00 am XTRaining class at my local studio. We did circuits this morning outside in the drizzle and it was the perfect way to start the day.
Now its time to face the music day. I hope you have a great Monday!
