Hello from a rainy Monday morning in Massachusetts. Is spring ever going to come? At least Studio 5 Run Club wasn’t rained out this weekend like it was last weekend. More on that below…
Friday night started as soon as I closed my laptop (aka stopped working) and started making dinner. SL and I have been trying to make take out and going out a bit less frequent so I opted to cook Friday night.
On the menu: Spiced pork chops and roasted creamer potatoes with green sauce and salad.
I call it green sauce because it was supposed to be Asparagus-Spinach pesto but my asparagus was a few days past its prime so then I was going make just spinach pesto but then I forgot to add the pinenuts so I am just calling it green sauce. It was delish and I devoured all of it. So did SL.
Saturday morning = waffles, bacon and company. SL’s co-worker stopped by on Saturday morning, she brought coffee, we made breakfast. It all worked out fabulously. After a quick visit, she was off and we were off – to Home Depot for house things.
Two hours later and one near breakdown, we were on our way home and SL did house things while I colored in my new May Designs notebook and watched a Lifetime movie. Just how Saturday afternoons should be.
I have been on the hunt for a new bathing suit to wear for triathlons because mine is old and ratty and probably see-through. I finally found exactly what I wanted!
My bottoms look like the ones above but are black.
I am so excited to finally have something functional and fashionable! I also stocked up on Nuun and Shot Bloks while I was there. Welcome to race season.
Sunday morning started with…
Studio 5 Run Club
After being cancelled last week, Studio 5 Run Club officially began on Sunday morning. And in case you were wondering, it was below freezing. 31 degrees to be exact.
(picture from the Studio 5 Facebook page <– check them out!)
Studio 5 Run Club started with a few jacks to warm up, and a quick dynamic stretch before we were off and running (so punny but I can’t help it). There was an option to run 1 mile, 2 miles, 3 mile or just over 3 miles for this first week. I chose the full 3+ mile distance because I knew I could do it.
The route was a simple out and back which I tend to not love but this was good for me because I didn’t know where I was so at least I knew I wouldn’t get lost.
Despite the cold, I had an excellent run:
Mile 1 – 8:22 mins
Mile 2 – 8:10 mins (yay! negative split)
Mile 3 – 8:23 mins
Last little bit – 8:43 mins
Total 3.28 miles // 27:25 min // 8:21 min/mile
I am planning to run a 5k next weekend and it’s a course I have PRed on. My PR for the 5k is 25:12. I would have to speed it up a bit to reach that but who knows. It’s always a possibility right?
After run club I went home real quick, ate and orange, drank a cup of coffee, refilled my water bottle and was off to Core, Buns and Guns at Studio 5. After class I was off to the grocery store then home for typical Sunday meal prep. Here is what I made:
- Breakfast Strata
- Veggie + hummus snack bags
- Hard boiled eggs
- Roasted a whole chicken (for Sunday dinner and lunches for the week)
- Made rice (for weekday lunches)
- Sliced kiwis + pineapple (for snacks)
- Rice (for lunches)
After dinner SL and I splurged and got our first ice cream of the season and it was perfect way to end the weekend.
I hope you had a great weekend as well!
