Good morning, happy Monday! Who is ready to kill this week?! I started the morning with a challenging workout so now I feel ready to power my way through the day.
But let’s back up and talk about something more awesome than Monday morning workouts – the weekend! SL and I had a great one despite some weather issues.
Friday
The weekend started when SL got home and we enjoyed happy hour on our back deck. Sauvy B for me and whiskey for SL. We talked about our week, about our weekend plans and about some friend gossip. It was perfect.
We stayed outside until the mosquito started coming out then headed in to change for dinner. Despite working from home on Friday (and from the car dealership) I had nothing planned to make for dinner so when SL mentioned he wanted fried clams, I knew we would be heading out for a late dinner.
I had a burger. Side note: I have been craving red meat and green leafy vegetables so hard lately. My burger and fries were delish and I didn’t regret one single bite.
After dinner we were both ready for bed and looking forward to sleeping in on Saturday.
Saturday = beach day, kind of.
We rolled out of bed around 8:30 on Saturday morning and began packing up for the beach. It was a little cloudy but still warm and we figured a not so perfect day at the beach was better than a day doing chores.
We left the house around ten, picked up breakfast sandwiches and drove 7 miles to the beach. Yes, we are spoiled.
After enjoying breakfast on the beach, I settled in to do some serious magazine reading until our friends showed up around 11:00. And then, weather issue #1 of the weekend – it started to get chilly then started raining.
Whomp whomp. We headed home and I decided to get meal planning, grocery shopping and Sunday prep done on Saturday. After getting my stuff done around 8:00 pm, I made dinner (hamburgers and salad – AGAIN!) and we called it a night.
Sunday
Sunday Runday! I got up early on Sunday and went to Run Club. This was by far the hottest run I have done all year. This was weather issue #2 of the weekend.
We were challenged to set a goal for the run and to do a shorter loop than last week but with a quicker speed. I was not thrilled with this because my body is not build for speed.
It was hot so I figured I could push through a shorter run and be ok with going a little fast.
Mile 1 – 8:30 min/mile
Mile 2 – 8:39 min/mile
Mile 3 – 9:57 min/mile
Last .81 mile – 9:17 min/mile
Total – 3.81 miles // 34:38 mins // 9:06 min/mile
Nope! Oof. Not my best effort. I felt totally gassed and completely out of breath when I finished. What happened in mile 3? I have no idea but it was not my best run. Still, it was a run and I was proud of myself for getting out there and doing it.
Post run, I stopped at home, dove headfirst into a bowl of watermelon and headed back out for Core, Buns and Guns.
After class, I did more chores, made an epic lasagna (which I will share the recipe for this week), showered and convinced SL to go walk around Newburyport for a while.
We walked around, went into a few shops but it started to get COLD and super windy. WTF weather?! This was weather issue #3 of the weekend. We ducked into a restaurant for an app and a drink but mostly to warm up.
In true Sunday night fashion, we got ourselves ice cream for dinner! Perfect start to the week.
Meal Plan – Week of June 13th
Because I spend a large amount of time on the weekend prepping for the week ahead, I thought it would be fun to share what I am prepping for. There is the Lawson household meal plan for this week.
Monday – Chicken with poke sauce and salad
Tuesday – Chicken, Apple, Sweet Potato and Brussels Sprouts Skillet
Wednesday – Filet mignon and salad
Thursday – Left overs (I am traveling to Washington DC for the day and will be home late)
Friday & Saturday – Wing it!
Sunday – Something with ground turkey and a ton of veggies, maybe chili??
*All of the meat is still from Greensbury Market and I am still loving it so much!
I hope you have a happy Monday and I will leave you with these beautiful flowers that SL picked from the various bushes in our yard.
