I need a weekend to recover from the weekend I just had. Over the past week, SL and I have been to three weddings and two of those were this weekend. Both of which we had to travel for.
After feeling very out of routine all summer, I am going to use part of this post to post my meals for the week ahead and review the previous week’s workouts.
Friday
I left work, sped home (safely), changed as quickly and possible and was back in the car to drive out to Gibbet Hill Farm in Groton, MA for wedding #1 of the weekend. It was just over an hour drive and because I couldn’t leave work early, SL and I missed the ceremony and cocktail hour.
We arrived just in time to see the bride and groom make their grand entrance into the reception and to have dinner. The star of the show for me was the salad. It had figs, bacon and pistachios!
So good and definitely something I will try to recreate at home.
Right after dinner, SL and I had to jump back in the car and drive home. SL had a very early morning and I still had to pack up for the rest of the weekend.
Saturday
Saturday morning started with a much needed barre class before all of the craziness began. While we were at Friday’s wedding, SL got a frantic text from one of our friends saying she had forgotten her dress for the Saturday wedding. I obviously offered to pick it up and bring it down to her which added to the craziness of Saturday morning.
After a morning a errands, I packed the car and drove down to Bristol RI. SL and I booked a room suite at the Mt. Hope Farm Inn and it was super cute but very low tech. I had planned on starting this post and getting caught up on some trashy TV but alas, there was no TV and no internet.
Instead, I got caught up on podcasts that I had already downloaded and had time to curl my hair for the wedding. I guess it was a win win.
I am the worst and didn’t take any pictures at either wedding this weekend (except for the salad – priorities). After lots of eating and dancing, a bunch of us went to a bar down the street for a little bit before heading back to our respective hotels (inns).
I was exhausted and my legs were sore from barre and dancing in heels and I was more than ready for bed when we got back.
Sunday
We slept in on Sunday and after checking out of our inn, we met a couple friends in downtown Bristol for a late breakfast. I would say brunch but there was no booze, so it was breakfast. Again, I am the worst and didn’t take any pictures but it was delish.
The drive home was quick and painless and I spent the rest of the day on Sunday doing Sunday chores (meal planning, grocery shopping, laundry). SL and I made our second big pot of tomato sauce from our thriving garden tomatoes and used some for dinner.
The rest of our Sunday night was spent watching the Patriots opening season game. Despite not having our two big stars, the Pats pulled off a win and I couldn’t have been happier for them!
I woke up this morning still exhausted from all of the travel and late nights over the weekend but now its time to think about the week ahead!
This week’s menu
Sunday – Sauce, fettuccine, salad with a side of SNF!
Monday – Crispy Cod & Summer Squash (but I’m using zucchini)
Tuesday – Scallops
Wednesday – Buffalo chicken meatballs with salad
Thursday – Left overs or dinner out with my favorite ladies
Friday/ Saturday – Wing it!
Last Week’s Workouts
Sunday – REST
Monday – REST
Tuesday – Yoga
Wednesday – 30 minute cycle
Thursday – REST
Friday – REST
Saturday – Barre
So this was a pretty lack luster week. I have no one to blame but myself. I have been loving more gentle workouts lately (barre, yoga, Pilates) and that’s great but four rest days isn’t ok with me. I’ll get my shit together this week!
Right now I have more yoga, barre and Pilates on the docket but I also have cycle and hopefully core, buns and guns as well.
So this has been the longest post ever! Sorry to go on and on but I had a lot to get out. Hope you had a great Monday!
